• CIFI to finance two photovoltaic generation plants and two electrical substations.
  • The portfolio comprises senior and subordinate financing, totaling US$20M, and will have an installed capacity of 19 MWp.

Corporación Interamericana para el Financiamiento de Infraestructura (CIFI) acted as Mandated Lead Arranger for a senior loan in the amount of up to US$16M and a subordinated loan in the amount of up to US$M for AXXA Energia, S.A. Both loans will be used to develop, build, and operate two photovoltaic plants (Rucasol SpA, and Melon Renovables SpA), as well as two electrical substations to which the projects will be connected, and will have a term of fifteen (15) years for the entire portfolio as a whole.

The projects will be located in the Metropolitan Region and Valparaiso Region within less than 150km from Santiago, Chile. The portfolio will have an installed capacity of 21.19 MWp (18 MW nominal). It will generate at least 25,083 MWh of renewable energy in the first year of operation of the Rucasol project, which will reduce potential emissions of 10,500 tons of CO2eq to the atmosphere per year, providing access to clean energy to communities and users of the nearby interconnected system.

Ramon Candia, Chief Investment Officer, commented that this portfolio is the sixth CIFI has financed in the country, making it a key participant in the PMGD/PMGs sector. In the words of the executive, this demonstrates “a commitment to its clients in the sector, to the country and to clean energy.”
