Javier Escorriola
Managing Partner Asset Management
Javier Escorriola is a seasoned investment professional with 30 years of experience in asset management, specializing in infrastructure, renewable energy, and financial services. He has a proven track record as a General Partner, investor, and advisor to over 20 funds and management companies, with expertise in fund structuring, portfolio management, exits, and developing new fund managers.
Javier served on the Board of CIFI from 2007 to 2025, contributing to its governance and strategic oversight. In 2022, he assumed the role of Managing Partner at CIFI, leading its Asset Management business focused on debt financing for middle-market infrastructure projects across Latin America and the Caribbean. Under his leadership, CIFI Asset Management offers institutional investors direct participation in project finance, leveraging CIFI’s extensive lending, advisory, and servicing capabilities to identify, structure, and finance impactful investments that promote sustainable development in the region.
Prior to CIFI, Javier held leadership positions at Norfund, where he was Regional Director for Latin America, overseeing investments in the financial sector, renewable energy, and private equity. He developed a successful office with specialized teams and ESG expertise, managing a portfolio exceeding USD 300 million and serving on more than 30 boards. Earlier in his career, he was a founding member of Actis, where he served as Regional Manager and led private equity investments across Latin America, Asia, and Africa, covering sectors such as renewable energy, agribusiness, and financial services. He began his career as Senior Credit Officer at Banco Interfin.
Javier holds a Master’s degree in Economics of Money, Banking, and Finance from the University of Sheffield, UK. He also earned dual Bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration (Finance) and Economics from the University of Texas at Austin.
