César Cañedo-Argüelles is the Chief Executive Officer of CIFI and a founding member of the institution. With over three decades of experience in infrastructure, investment banking, and emerging markets, César has been instrumental in shaping CIFI’s mission since its inception. Appointed CEO in 2015, he has led the company to achieve several landmark milestones, including the issuance of the first green bonds in Colombia and Panama, and the launch of the Sustainable Infrastructure Debt Fund in Latin America.

Under his leadership, CIFI has expanded its strategic capabilities by launching an Asset Management platform and creating new avenues for investment in critical infrastructure.

Prior to his role as CEO, César held various leadership positions within CIFI and executive roles at Prointec and Ernst & Young. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Finance from Saint Louis University, and Master’s degrees in Finance and Business Administration from IE Business School.
