This report provides a comprehensive assessment of CIFI’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance and governance amid a year of global challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Grounded in international frameworks such as the Equator Principles and International Finance Corporation (IFC) Performance Standards, the report details efforts to integrate ESG considerations throughout the investment cycle for CIFI’s USD 525 million investment platform, as of December 31, 2020.

Notable achievements include initiating a climate risk assessment, inventorying greenhouse gas emissions, and advancing the Climate Change Strategy and Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS). 

The report highlights the issuance of CIFI’s Green Bond in 2019, the first in Panama, and its impact. Through the metrics presented, CIFI demonstrates effective ESG risk oversight, balancing financial returns with its strategic values and contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals.
