Vendor Reviews - Komplett.co.uk

Komplett.co.uk

I have been using Komplett for quite a while now after accidentally stumbling across them during a web search about two years ago.

I was desperately seeking a particular component and after all my usual vendors came back with "1-2 weeks" as their stock status I decided to expand my search further, this is when these guys appeared in a search over at Google UK

The first thing you should note about Komplett.co.uk is that although they have a co.uk domain name and they have a registered office in Reading UK they are in fact based in Norway - not that this is a bad thing, but if I don't mention it you will think that I'm trying to hide this fact and I'm certainly not.

I guess them being in Norway may well explain their excellent prices on all components. Actually I now check this site out before checking any of my other vendors because their prices are just so good. Just use Pricewatch UK and see how often they have the lowest price for the components you are looking at - if they aren't the cheapest they will be one of the cheapest.

One thing that sets Komplett out from others is their "real time" stock figures. In the past I've ordered from companies who list items as in-stock only to receive an e-mail later telling me that they are awaiting stock on the item I've just ordered. I have ordered items from these guys who have shown 5 in stock and once my order is complete and I've gone back to the site it has been down to 4, that is how real-time it is.

All items are extremely well packaged, they take the fact that your package will be sent from Norway very seriously, we all know how well certain courier companies treat packages (especially those marked as "fragile" so these guys put plenty of packing around your purchase to make sure everything arrives in one piece. I am yet to have received any damaged items from them and on the two occasions the packaging looked damaged my purchases were still very much in one piece.

You might think that as the package has to come from Norway that you are going to be paying a lot more for delivery. They use DHL overnight for all of their packages and the delivery cost is excellent. I pay on average £5 - £8 for this service and this is actually a lot less than some places in the UK charge to send my package only one hundred miles or so. Also it is worth noting that just because you are receiving the package from a foreign country you will not be charged extra VAT or Import duty taxes. You pay regular UK VAT (17.5%) at the time of purchase and the final "Including delivery" charge is all that you will pay, you will not receive a letter from DHL telling you that you owe them some import duty.

I have not yet had to return anything to Komplett so I cannot as of yet comment on how quickly or efficiently they handle returns. A friend of mine returned an ATI graphics card as he couldn't get it to work in his system and he received a brand new one about a week later - as it turned out the fault was with his power supply and not the ATI card, but they still handled the return very well and made sure he didn't have to wait too long for his replacement card. I have contacted them once or twice with a couple of technical queries and they have always responded very quickly and very politely which is always a bonus.

The only fault I can actually report with using Komplett.co.uk is not actually their fault, for some reason DHL just cannot get their act together and sometimes packages take longer than the overnight delivery might suggest. I have ordered items and then used DHL's on-line tracking to watch my parcel on it's journey from Norway to the UK. The package leaves Norway the same day, arrives in the UK during the early hours of the next day and then for some reason can take anything up to three days to make it those last few miles into my possession. I've known people to complain to Komplett about this and they have in turn refunded the delivery against your next order - this is absolutely excellent considering it really isn't their fault. If they would just consider another courier company rather than DHL I think this company could be the very best.

I really cannot recommend these guys enough, they have great prices, good stock levels on the most popular items and quick delivery times on those items that are out of stock. They are friendly and knowledgeable and offer an all round good service. They are my primary supplier at the moment and it would take somebody really exceptional for me to start shopping elsewhere.
