Vendor Reviews - CCL Computers
I first stumbled across CCL Computers a long
time ago, some three or four years ago and I'm really pleased
that I did.
When I first found them I don't think they
were as big as they are now, I very much got the impression that
they were a local store based "up north" and they had an online
presence just to please their local customers, it even still
felt that way when I called them to order an item and they
checked three times my address, Cambridge seemed so far away
from where they were based. This was not such a bad thing at all
as I kind of got that "local shop" feeling when I dealt with
them, as if they really did put the customer before their need
to make massive profits and sales.
That however was a long time ago and their
online presence seems to have grown, they also advertise in many
of the big name computer publications so I think they are not a
lot more accessible to the UK in general and once again this
isn't such a bad thing as it means one of the vendors I first
started using all those years ago is still with us today.
They certainly don't have the largest
selection of items to choose from, however they do carry all of
the "popular" components that people are looking for and at a
very good price. In fact their prices are very good, better than
some of the larger UK vendors, if only they could get themselves
incorporated into
Pricewatch UK I think they would find they were getting even
more customers.
Both sales & support staff are great and very
happy to answer any question you might throw at them. If the
person you are talking to doesn't know the answer they will find
out for you and they do seem to have a nice range of staff - one
of them is bound to be able to answer your query, I cannot
believe how friendly the staff are at this place, I've
inadvertently messed around some of their sales team before,
asking one question that involved her going off to speak to
somebody else and then five minutes later asking another one
that forced her to go off seeking an answer again. At the end of
the call I was still wished a good day and I could sense a smile
(even if deep down she hated me!)
Delivery charges are very fair and worked out
on what you are actually buying and even purchasing single items
doesn't add too much to the price with delivery costs.
Unfortunately this is another company who do not have stock
figures on their site so once again I do tend to call up first
and check on stock if the item I want is an urgent one - there
is no surcharge for ordering over the phone, so while you've got
one of the friendly members of staff on the phone you may as
well place you order directly with them, saves going back online
to order.
Overall making a purchase with CCL Computers
is very enjoyable and I love the "local shop" feeling they give,
the staff are extremely friendly and if you are fed-up speaking
to sales people who really would rather not be answering your
call give these guys a call, you will be impressed.
