LCD Reviews - NEC 1760NX

Review 1

Clarity: 10/10 (text and images are incredibly clear)

Ghosting: not noticeable (16ms)

Colours: 9/10 (very vibrant, impressive contrast)

Brightness: 9/10 (can appear too bright if new to LCDs, colours don’t bleed !)

Design: 10/10 (1cm silver bezel, black overall, very neat)

Features: 8/10 (DVI, VGA, nice stand, no USB hub.)

Price/Value: 9/10 (£380 at time of purchase)

Opinions:

Excellent during gaming, tried several FPS such as Quake3, Team Arena, UT2K3, Elite Force.

All very smooth during play, as are movies and DVDs. Ghosting may occur, but I am unable to notice it.

Minor backlight variance does exist, but only those with keen eyes will notice, otherwise this is a superb screen.

Review 2

NEC 1760NX was a great looking TFT but not as nice as the Samsung.
Its a 17" screen.
It has a 16ms response time!

It took me a while, but after that time I came to the conclusion that the NEC was the way to go as it look great and had a 16ms response time.
I was willing to loss a inch for that 16ms response time (being a gamer).

I ordered the screen from ebuyer.co.uk (best price at the time. (£380).

The very first impressions out of the box was WOW this thing looks !HOT!. "this monitor has style in its DNA!"
After having a pizza I took the screen up stairs to my bedroom.
Hooked it up with the supplied VGA cable and power cable and fired up my system.

First impressions (after resolutions change to the optimum) was THIS THING IS SHARP AS A SWISS ARMY KNIFE! & THE COLOURS AS VIBRANT AS A SET OF HIGH-LIGHTER PENS .

Of course first thing I did was fire up Jedi Knight II
Went to my favourite server TNA/BBH Fightclub (I am in BBH) and started to have a few duels I did experience the smallest amount of ghosting. After 30 minutes (takes 20 minutes to warm up to optimum so the book says) I didn't see the ghosting anymore!
See this as you will, did I get used to the smallest amount of ghosting or did the TFT warm up and it disappear?
You decide either way after that I saw Sweet F.A.G. (Fu*k All Ghosting) and that makes me a happy camper.
After this I though ok then lets see what you are really made of and loaded Unreal Tournament 2K3 (one of the fastest games around these days) same thing Sweet F.A.G.
After I had played a hour or so on UT 2K3 I turned down the brightness as the screen was very bright (unlike what I had heard about the Hitachi).

And this leads me to this review and I must say this is the the greatest monitor I have ever seen to date! style/performance/footprint etc you name it this screen has it.
From what I have heard the best is still to come from this monitor with a DVI cable (running a D-Sub cable) so what more can I say its the best :D

P.S. I went from a 17 inch CRT @ 1024by768
to the NEC 1760NX TFT @ 1280by1024
and I must say these resolutions are a god sent :D.
I will never go back to CRTs unless I have to.
