Who am I? A brief profile
My name is Paul, I'm 30 years old and live in the Cambridge area
in the UK.
I work as a Systems Administrator for a company called
Amino Communications
about six miles outside of the city just outside a village
called Swavesey.
Just because I work with computers does not mean that I
automatically know how to design and write web pages, I feel
this site will be a testament to that statement.
I have been working in the industry since 1994 when I left
college to take on a role in Computer Sales for a company in
Cambridge called Evesham Micros.
From there I progressed to working in their Technical Support
department dealing with customers, after leaving Evesham I
worked for a couple of companies in the roll of Technical
Support before landing this roll as Systems Administrator with
my current company.
All of my knowledge on computers and networks is self-taught, I
did not study them at college. In fact I trained to be a car
mechanic and left college with a BTec National qualification in
Motor Vehicle Technology, alas breaking into the industry was
not easy and I fell-back on my general PC knowledge and started
selling them for a living.
Since I started working in the industry I have done a lot of
studying and have achieved MCP (Microsoft Certified
Professional) and CNA (Certified Novell Administrator)
qualifications in my own time - the studying is not easy, the
exams are not easy, but the end result is worth it as these
qualifications do enable you to get a "foot in the door" when it
comes to job interviews.
In my personal life I am now married to the most wonderful woman called
Elizabeth whom I
became engaged to in February 2004 and married in October 2006.
In March 2005 we moved in to our first house together, after
renting for 18 months prior, and we are currently buying our own
house in Chatteris (about 22 miles from Cambridge). It's a very
grown-up feeling having your own mortgage rather than simply
paying a landlord every month. However at the same time we know
that every month is a few more bricks that we have paid for!
Elizabeth really is the light of my life and honestly the best
thing that has happened to me, she can make an otherwise boring
and dull day extremely bright and joyful, if you want a true web
experience you might want to take a look at her site.
